Kaitoke
First camping trip for Leon.
Our newborn Leon was only 10 days old so we didn't venture far from home, he took to camping like a master—he's the relaxation king.
Isaac was the one who had a blast though, it was awesome to see our 2yr old be a little independent and make new friends, he found another kid just four days younger than he was and they just hit it off straight away. Playing forts in the trees and riding his bike with along with new friend across the fields.
We went swimming in the ice-cold river and was entertained by the ducks and Takahe. We had friends came in for an evening BBQ, I got to use my coal BBQ in the wild and even though its small it coped for two families—love the flavour that coal BBQ's give.
A few dramas packing up the awning, it seems one of the cogs in it a worn so it doesn't wind in very well. Had to borrow a ladder from one RV and a tool from another RV and some extra manpower to figure out how to pack it away. We succeed but then found I'd lost my glasses, after an hour of searching we left the camp defeated. Once home cleaning out the bus I found them exactly where I thought I had left them!
Kaitoke is one of our all-time favourite spots, easy access, close to home, child-friendly and good facilities.
