Night without the kids
Remember those days without kids? no, not really...
This was our first night away from Leon and he's now 16 months old. Kim arranged some time out, time gifted by her mum and sister for her birthday.
It was only one night, but it was a good enough reason to take the bus out and show off its new paint job. The boys tried to help me pack by building a fort in the bus, and nana and auntie came over to stay while we were away.
A day and a night of uninterrupted adult and dog time, it felt kinda strange! We took the bus up to our favorite spot in Waikanae on Field Way, in a suburban area directly by a river with a view and good access to the beach. It's never crowded there which is a huge bonus. We walked, talked, sat in a swing chair on the sand dunes and just watched the waves. I managed to get my guitar out for a few tunes and Kim took a nap. The bus felt so spacious and clean without the mayhem of the kids.
We've noticed the bus is getting more admirers with its new paint job, someone was even taking pictures of it this morning with us sitting in the front seats. We finished the mini trip off with lunch at Long Beach Restaurant which is a fav of the locals and us. We arrived home to find another retro Ford parked next to our house, so the old chaps can have a chat tonight about days of old.
